World Happiness Report puts New Zealanders 13th out of 156

world-happiness-report-image-small-for-web   “New Zealanders are the 13th happiest in the world.” That’s the finding of the recently published World Happiness Report 2013. A post this month on Otago University’s Public Health Expert blog highlights some of the relevant findings of the report, which looked at the happiness of 156 countries. Of particular note to health promotion professionals is the finding in the report that public spending needs to focus more on prevention than on care.  It acknowledged the need for better evidence to support this shift. Also highlighted in the Otago University’s blog is the emphasis on mental health as the “single most important determinant of individual happiness.” Read the full report here.  Or read the Public Health Expert blog here.   Entered: 24 September 2013
