Over the last 14 months a Working Group has been looking into the options, risks and potential benefits of forming a Health Promoters Society, Association or legal body. The deliberations of the Working Group and wider consultation with health promoters and public health practitioners have now been finalised. This shows significant support for the establishment of a legal body and the provision of options for moving this work forward.
The Health Promotion Forum (HPF) has been tasked with undertaking the next steps in this process. HPF is now calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from health promoters and others who are interested in become founding members of an association/ society: note this process simply records your interest and doesn’t hold you to a commitment of any sort. A call for official membership will take place once a formal body has been established.
The EOI process provides a basis for interested individuals to become part of an initial committee who will work to form a legal body and then subsequently initiate an official membership process.
If you are interested we recommend that you read the ‘Draft Statement of Ethical Practice’ as this will form the basis of membership. In time this document will evolve into a Health Promoters Code of Ethics.
