Research & Evaluation Specialist

Mental Health Foundation

The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) is an established charitable trust which focuses on creating a society where all people flourish: promoting positive mental health, developing supportive communities, and preventing suicide. We work to enable individuals, whānau, organisations and communities to improve and sustain their mental health and reach their full potential.

We seek someone who can support our teams by ensuring that our broad range of campaigns and programmes are designed and delivered in line with evidence and best practice, plus are well evaluated.

Based at our head office in Mount Eden, Auckland, this role will engage with teams across the MHF, lead and advise on projects, plus work with external researchers and evaluators who contribute to our work.

This role requires experience in undertaking, commissioning and/or working with research/evaluation; preferably in public health, health promotion or social marketing contexts. Working with a range of people and teams, it requires an ability to interpret and translate research findings, then to make recommendations about feasible applications of evidence-informed practice.

Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills are essential, as is the ability to work across teams. Being able to set and meet deadlines is a must; prioritising tasks while juggling a range of initiatives will be necessary at times. A flexible working approach, along with resilience and empathy in dealing with sensitive topics, will be needed for this role.

Experience working within an NGO will be an advantage, as will having an understanding of this organisation, the services and the environment in which the MHF operates.

The salary range for this position is $57,000 – $61,500 and will be commensurate to the successful candidate’s skills and experience for the role.

The Mental Health Foundation has a strong commitment to actively promote the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and we encourage applicants who have the same cultural commitment. We value input from people with experience of mental illness – tangata whai ora and we are an EEO employer.

Please email human_resources@mentalhealth.org.nz using the subject line “RES18” for a copy of the job description, person specification and application form. If you’re interested in the role please send your completed application form, CV and cover letter.

Closing date for applications is 5pm, Monday the 4th of June 2018.
