Health Improvement Advisor – Kaiwhakawhanake Hauora Hapū Hauora

A permanent role based in Rotorua however Whakatāne or Tauranga may be considered
Fulltime (80 hours per fortnight)

Hapū Hauora focusses on improving whānau health and wellbeing through using preventative approaches and supporting Iwi and Hapū to make the healthy choice the easy choice on the marae and in the wider community. The Hapū Hauora website – www.hapū provides ‘Ngā Kete Mātauranga’ around five key health areas which will help whānau to live a long and healthy life; oranga kai, auahi kore, te karonga I ngā momo mate, whakakore waipiro and korikori tīnana.


Toi Te Ora Public Health (Toi Te Ora) is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and multi-skilled person to be part of our Health Improvement team and assist in leading Hapū Hauora. This role also provides the opportunity to work across different strategic areas and settings. Improving hauora Māori which is underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, is a key priority for Toi Te Ora.


Experience in Māori health along with a qualification in public health, iwi development, or a relevant field is preferred; he huanga mōu, ka āhei te korero i te reo rangatira. Advanced knowledge of the hau kāinga and ahi kaa and established relationships with key Māori organisations, iwi and communities within the Bay of Plenty and Lakes districts would set you apart from other applicants.


This role requires you to have experience in engaging at a strategic level across a wide range of stakeholders, iwi and hapū across our region. To be successful in this role, you will be team orientated, adaptable, experienced in project management, and have excellent communication skills particularly in the areas of website maintenance and social media.
